INTRODUCING THE ANNUAL GENERAL HIKE
INTRODUCING THE ANNUAL GENERAL HIKE
This is a public service announcement.
The Hike Society is proud to present the inaugural Annual General Hike.
The Annual General Hike (AGH) will see The Hike Society collaborate with outdoor communities across the country to host a series of free hikes over the weekend of 15th – 16th October.
The event, the first of its kind, will be a celebration of the best of the UK outdoors - unifying hiking collectives to connect like-minded people in the great outdoors. The AGH fuels The Hike Society’s mission to unlock the outdoors for new and existing audiences and build community to facilitate and encourage more time spent outside.
"THERE ARE 20 HIKING COMMUNITIES EXPECTED TO TAKE TO THE HILLS, FELLS AND COASTLINES WITH OVER 400 HIKERS PREDICTED TO BE IN ATTENDANCE."
The event is free and to get involved you can find your local hike and order your ticket through The Hike Society hub.
MEET THE COMMUNITIES
COMMON GROUND
Founded by a group of six strangers dotted around the Midlands and Northern England, Common Ground was established in January 2022. The founders, who connected online through a mutual interest in the outdoors, uncovered a demand for hiking hook ups – growing a community that boasts hundreds of members in every corner of the UK.
Common Ground will be taking on a Yorkshire classic for the Annual General Hike with an ascent of Peny-y-ghent.
GORP GIRLS
Gorp Girls is an online platform and creative collective specialising in showcasing women championing the outdoors.
Founded by Hannah da Silva, a London based content creator, art director and model, the community has a strong focus on the link between fashion and the outdoors.
Participating in the Annual General Hike, Gorp Girls will be heading into the Brecon Beacons to conquer the iconic peak of Pen y Fan.
ALL TERRAIN 95
Born out of the pandemic, All Terrain 95 was founded by 22-year old Boltonian, Kian Patel, in 2020.
Started as a means for him and his mates to get out and about and discover new places, Patel has grown an outdoor community that’s almost 10,000 strong via Instagram.
All Terrain 95 will be navigating their way through Snowdonia. The community will be summiting the fifth highest peak in Wales standing at over 1,000 metres, Glyder Fawr.
